It’s a Festivas Miracle!! Alright, it is just a plain ole regular miracle.
Sorry to get you all excited there. I have a tendency to think things are more exciting than they actually are. Sure, not very interesting for everyone else, but it makes my days more enjoyable! The miracle I am referring to is the fact that this is post #2 of the night. I am overcome with “blogwritingitous”, but to be honest I am not quite sure if that is an actual condition. Until someone proves otherwise, I am going to go with it for now. If someone can provide definitive proof that it is not an actual condition/ailment/symptom/disease/word, feel free to send the proof my way… but you better be damn sure that you’re right! (Those of you who have followed the sparingly previous entries here will quickly note that my efforts to save the …s and “s continue.)
My intention for this post was to make a quick entry to let everyone know that I have done some updates to the blog, but as you have already experienced, it has been anything but a quick entry already. (I am now going to go into my airline stewardess interpretation… picture me waving my arms and pointing. Hey! Don’t picture me that well!) As you will see to the upper right, a new addition to the Blog List. I have some other blogs I thought about adding but they may not be appropriate for everyone. I will sit on them for a bit and decide if I want to add them. Next, you will see the Movie List. This is where I will put movies that I have seen recently, as well as my recommendations as to whether to see them or not. I have come into the wonderful habit of seeing a movie every weekend with my friend Cindy, either preceded by brunch or followed by dinner. Hey! Brunch isn’t just for sissies anymore! These days have become very enjoyable and I always look forward to them. We have only stumbled across one bad movie so far, so we are doing pretty good.
It makes no sense to start a new paragraph here, but the previous one looks like it is long enough so time for a new one I figure. Following the previously mentioned Movie List, you will come across the Book List. It may be third in the order but it certainly is not the least important. I try to make time every night to read a little before going to bed, but my heroin addiction gets in the way quite often I find. Just kidding, I am not addicted to herion, just meth. OK, you’re right, I am kidding again. I was on a real fantasy genre craze for a while, reading every book by Raymond E. Feist and Robin Hobb (man those fools have written a lot of books) and I started to read the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I got to book 5 of 11 and lost complete interest which is not like me. Normally, I like to finish things like that but this time I just couldn’t. I moved onto some more light-hearted and humorous reading, and am glad I did. You can see my selections on the Book List, which I mentioned way back at the beginning of this paragraph, if you can remember that far back. Ooops. Looks like this one is long enough too. Time to start a new paragraph I suppose.
And to round the lists off… the DVD List. As you can imagine, this one is closely linked to the Movie List. Brethren of sorts, some may say. I assume that most people know the life cycle of a movie: writer writes a contrived script with many plot holes and action sequences that defy the laws of physics – studio then hires overpriced, braindead bimbos (god bless ‘em! – both the bimbos and the studios for hiring them) and actors to fill the underdeveloped roles that leave you wondering what their motivation is for doing the stupid stuff they do – insane amounts of money are spent that could feed the world for eternity (I think that may have been an exaggeration on my part there) in order to produce and actually make the movie – followed by very well done trailers featuring the guy with the cool movie trailer voice narrating, all while pretty people and flashing lights captivate us and make us think it is a good movie in a mere 1 minute preview, while also showing all the good parts leaving you no reason to actually go see the movie – movie shows in theaters – movie no longer shows in theaters – movie comes out on DVD way too long after it has been in theaters and now all the buzz is gone from the movie and so copies sit on the shelf. Whew, quite an impressive life cycle. There are exceptions to this cycle, of course. If the movie stars Steven Segal, Polly Shore, Paris Hilton or Ben Affleck then it will skip the first couple of steps and go straight to DVD. And when I say “skip the first couple of steps”, I mean that the writing part is often glossed over as well, in an attempt to get it from the dumpster to DVD and back to the dumpster as quickly as possible. All this to say that often you will see movies move from the Movie List to the DVD List if they are worthy. Of course I can’t see every movie that is out so some movies may just sneak on the DVD List without being on the Movie one first. C’est la vie.
Soooo…. as you can see, I was very successful in leaving just a quick note to let you know that the site has been updated. I am glad that I am able to set goals and stick to them. It shows great character I think. I honestly don’t know what takes control of me. I see a white box that is empty and a stream of consciousness just flows out of my fingers, often times not making much sense, as many of you will probably attest to. I have always told people I am wordy and it’s no lie. Hell, look at me… I am being wordy trying to apologize for being wordy. Must…
