Absence makes the heart grow fonder

Wow! It has been quite some time since I have done any posting, especially since the New Years one was just filler. I will try to make more of an effort to get back and jot a few words down every few days at the very least. Perhaps I will take some time at work to do it since I have come to realize that I don’t take enough breaks or lunches at work. No joke! I maybe take 15 minutes a day to grab a bite to eat and that is it. I am sure that people who know me will be surprised by such a revelation.

“So where the hell have you been?” you may ask. Looking at the date of the last real post, I think I see the corrolation. After announcing that prayer works on December 5th, a few short days later I finally got the balls to ask the person I was “pretend dating” (as I now call it) to take the next step. Boy am I glad I did! It has been nothing but a fabulous time ever since, and I would rather spend my time with her than sitting at this computer typing away… and I don’t see that as a bad thing. However, you might, as I know how you all look forward to my witicisms about the world, and my startling, eye-opening points of view.

I will give a brief recap of the last 2 months, and then elaborate further on subsequent posts. Hopefully this will force me to have to come back and write some more. December was a blur… new relationship, x-mas, new years etc. My sister and her man were in town for Christmas, and so we had all the family things to do on my side, plus two families on the girl’s side, for a total of three Christmas celebrations. As usual, I was spoilt by everyone and ate too much… but that is definately nothing new. January rolled around and the time just kept on flying by. Had hockey games to go to, the Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg concert to go to (more to come about this in another post) and a party every weekend to attend for one reason or another it seemed. It is odd… I used to be so comfortable staying at home and doing nothing – sitting on the couch watching a movie, or in front of the computer – but now I get bored if I do such things for too long. And I like it! What the hell is happening to me?!? Is this what happens when you turn 30?? (For those of you who don’t know, that unfortunate event occurred on Dec 4th). I gotta say, these have been two fabulous months, and I don’t see things changing for a while.

Looking back on ‘06, it was simply a great year and I am probably feeling my best and happiest in a long time. Despite the car accident, which resulted in a metal plate in my arm now, it was actually a blessing in disguise. I got a new and better car, which the promotion at work (way back in Jan ‘06 now) helps cover the added cost, reduced my debt load and have almost wiped it out completely, quit smoking on September 25th (today is day 138 without a single puff), and have a wonderful girl. Who the hell am I to complain? (That is a rhetorical question by the way, since you all know that I would not be me if I wasn’t complaining about something.)

So February has come around, and it seems like things are slowing down a bit. Not too much on the social calendar for the next little while, and so just some time to relax and save up some $$$. We have a trip to Halifax coming up in April, some new toys for the car to be installed come springtime, and then we need to save up for the move on June 21st. Oh ya…the little lady bought a condo and we are moving into it together once it is finished being built in June. No, it is not too quick. We have known each other for years, and then months of the previously mentioned “pretend dating”. Believe me, we did not jump into this head first and we are both excited and feel it is right. I will fill y’all in more later maybe.

I will be back shortly with more, but in the meantime here is one of the funniest commercials I have seen in a while. I saw it months ago but it was not on YouTube yet. I saw it again today during Survivor and decided to search for it again, and taadaaaaa!
